Covid-19, Population Migration, & Electoral Outcomes

Author(s): Sarah Eaken

This project explores the relationship between post-Covid population migration and partisan voting changes during the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections. Specifically, it investigates whether regions experiencing the most population growth also tended to show increases in Republican vote share, with particular attention to key swing states that played decisive roles in the 2024 election outcome. Through an integration of demographic and electoral datasets, this analysis aims to understand how migration patterns may have contributed to the broader ‘red wave’ observed in 2024.
