I made a project that analyzes earthquake data from around the world with the objective of looking at earthquakes globally over time. To create this project I used python packages like pandas, numpy, matplotlib, plotly, and cartopy. The data for this project was sourced from the University of Illinois Atmospheric Sciences Department. The dataset has 343 observations and 22 columns. The main columns I intend to analyze include time(time of earthquake), latitude(north-south position of earthquake epicenter), longitude(angular distance of the earthquake epicenter east or west of the Prime Meridian), depth(vertical distance from the Earth’s surface down to the focus, the precise point where a seismic rupture begins measured in kilometers), magnitude(size of the earthquake). A goal of this project was to examine the relationship between earthquake location frequency and magnitude. I also aimed to look at earthquakes over time.
