I am a Professor of Geography in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology and the Founding Director of the Socio-Environmental & Geospatial Analysis (SEGA) Lab at the University of Texas at El Paso. My research interests encompass a wide range of contemporary environmental and social justice issues. Specific topics include environmental justice, social vulnerability to hazards and disasters, environmental health, racial/ethnic disparities, sustainability, and urban environmental change. My research utilizes both traditional and newly emerging methodologies, including the application of GIScience and spatial statistical techniques.
